Even though it may not seem like it, the dark days of winter are coming to an end. This means a brand-new season of interior design trends is here. Homes are embracing a blend of modern and natural touches this spring. Whether it’s tropical bliss vibes, decorative fringe or bold pops of colour, these trends will make your home stand out this spring.

Home Trends for Spring (Updated 2024)

Rich Pigments

Ultraviolet

Jewel tones are set to be the choice of colour palettes for 2018. Ultraviolet was named Pantone’s colour of the year and is undeniably a bold and stunning hue. Look for dramatic reds, statement pinks, bold yellows and organic greens. These dramatic colours can be introduced to a single wall or accessorized as pieces of furniture such as dining chairs, tableware, and even the sofa.

A Tropical Paradise

A continuation from 2017, tropical ferns, banana leaf and palm leaf prints are still making their way onto furniture, walls, and artwork this season. It reminds us of tropical getaways, looks fresh and because it’s nature related, has a calming effect. Do you have more of a minimalist space? A single palm leaf will still add some life to your home.

Adornments

Fringe, tufts, tassels, and feathers can be found on cushions, wall hangings, throws, and accessories are a fun new trend on its way to the mainstream. Fringe adds texture and is a charming accent in a modern interior. Just remember, use it sparingly. Too much fringe will look gaudy.

Say Hello to Wabi-Sabi

This Japanese aesthetic finds beauty in imperfection. Its origin in the 15th century was a reaction to lavishness and opulence and use of rare materials. It embraces unmade beds, avoids symmetry opts to celebrate a worn lived in look. This aesthetic celebrates natural materials, keeps it simple and embraces imperfection.

Warm Natural Accents

Warm natural accents compliment tropical prints and the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic. Wicker, wood, brass, and stone move away from the tech decor that was popular in 2017. Natural materials have a distinct way of bringing warmth into the home. Natural elements, materials, fabrics, and houseplants are all coming together along with furniture and accents in modern design.

Round Furniture

Round coffee tables, curved sofas, and chairs have made a return to the latest home decor trends. Curved furniture is a stark contrast to traditional furniture and has the added benefit of being versatile. A round piece of furniture does not need to hug a corner or take up space along a wall. It can add openness to an area and can be placed anywhere in a room.

Be sure to add some of your own personal style and flair when using any trending styles. Mix trends with what you already own to create decor that is timeless.
